Romsey Medical Centre opens sub branch in Lancefield
After a number of years of intense work and negotiation with Local Government and VicRoads the new Lancefield Medical Centre was officially opened on the 19th July 2011 by the Mayor of Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Mr Henry McLaughlin - pictured with Dr Noel Cunningham (Practice Principal) and Ms Riwka Hagen (Romsey and Lancefield Medical Centre Business Manager).
The Lancefield Medical Centre is located at 20 Chauncey Street, Lancefield. The building was the original quarters for the Nuns who served at the local Lancefield Catholic Church and has had a very professional "makeover" by project manager Riwka Hagen. The premises will now deliver valuable local health care by GPs, specialists and allied health providers from Romsey Medical Centre, including Dr Noel Cunningham, Dr Sally Carter, Dr Suki Allen, Dr Vivian Pereira, Dr Louise Jarvie and Dr Emerson Tantoo.
Dr Cunningham, Riwka Hagen, GPs and staff are to be commended on their commitment to the expansion of their existing services in Romsey to meet the needs of the Lancefield community.
Romsey Medical Centre video consulting success!
Dr Suki Allen at Romsey and Lancefield Medical Centre has hosted the first video consultation for the Clinic and the Network. Using existing high speed internet capability and adding an internet phone and camera, the Practices are now fully enabled to offer patients the convenience of attending specialist review appointments locally.
With support from Chris Ryan consultant for Attendanywhere, and using an internet based, operating system independent platform - 'Vidyo', secure access to the Romsey Medical Video Room by authorized parties has been established through their website www.romseymedical.com.au
According to Riwka Hagen, the challenges included network and firewall issues at both specialist and clinic locations, coordinating equipment installation and testing as well as the scheduling of appointment time to suit all parties. However, the biggest limitation for the moment is finding specialists who are capable of video conferencing.
